Yarnnakarn’s journey has always been shaped by the diversity of culture, time, and place. After many years of creating in Thailand, our path gently shifted to Japan — a transition made possible through a thoughtful collaboration with LAND Tokyo.
Finding a Home in Gifu
Our search led us to Gifu, a region with centuries of ceramic tradition. When we first visited the factory, the atmosphere was serene. The workshop sits in a small village where life moves quietly. A tiny rice field grows beside the studio, fabric dries in the sun, and an old stone staircase leads to a small spirit house among the trees. Everything was rustic yet carefully kept — touched by time but never neglected. These gentle details gave us a sense of belonging, a place where the spirit of Yarnnakarn could breathe and continue naturally.
Craft with Care
The artisans welcomed our humble Thai designs with openness. They sensed their spirit and adapted their methods, allowing our gentle imperfections and natural forms to coexist with their precision. Through clay tests, firing experiments, and glaze trials, each piece began to embody a quiet harmony — Gifu’s heritage supporting our designs without altering their essence.
Continuing the Journey
Today, Yarnnakarn pieces are shaped by the warm hands of Gifu’s artisans, carrying the quiet artistry and the small poetry of everyday life into each object.
We continue this chapter with gratitude — to the artisans of Gifu for their trust, and to LAND, Tokyo for their steady companionship.
